Terms of Service

NEARBY lets people host real-world events — rides, meals, sports, music jams, treks and more — and lets others discover and request to join them. Events are organised and run by their hosts, not by NEARBY. We provide the platform and review events before they are published, but we don't attend, supervise or guarantee them.

• You must be 18 or older.
• You must give accurate information, including your real name and a mobile number you control.
• You may have only one account, and you're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done from your account.

• Every new event is reviewed by the NEARBY team before it goes live. We may approve, reject or later remove any event at our discretion, for example if it looks misleading, unsafe or against these terms.
• You must describe your event accurately — what it is, where and when it happens, how many people can join and what it costs.
• You are responsible for running the event: the venue, any permissions it needs, and the safety of the activity.
• You decide who joins by approving or declining requests. Don't decline people on the basis of religion, caste, race, gender, disability or similar personal characteristics.
• Once anyone has paid for your event, you can't change its price or time or delete it yourself — contact us at events@nearbynow.in if plans change.

• Joining is a request: the host decides whether to approve it.
• Approved participants can see who else is going and use the event's group chat.
• Please turn up if you've been approved, or cancel in good time so someone else can take your spot.

• Hosts can set a price per person; free events cost nothing. For paid events, you pay when you book, through our payment partner, Cashfree, and your spot is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through - the host doesn't need to approve it.
• You get a full refund automatically if: you leave a paid event before it starts; or the event fills up while you are paying.
• No refund is given for leaving after an event has started, or for not turning up.
• If you were charged twice for the same event, the extra payment is refunded automatically.
• Refunds go back to your original payment method and usually take 5–7 working days to appear, depending on your bank.
• If an event is cancelled or something goes wrong with a payment, contact events@nearbynow.in and we'll sort it out.

NEARBY is about meeting people in person, which carries real-world risks. We review events and keep some details private, but we can't check every host, participant or venue. Please:

• Meet in public places and let someone you trust know where you're going.
• Use your own judgement — if something feels wrong, don't go, or leave.
• Never share financial details or send money outside NEARBY's checkout.
• Report anything unsafe or suspicious to events@nearbynow.in, and contact local emergency services (112 in India) in an emergency.

You take part in events at your own risk and are responsible for your own conduct.

• Fake, misleading, illegal or dangerous events, or events used to sell, promote or recruit for something else.
• Harassment, threats, hate speech, or sexual or violent content — in events, profiles or chats.
• Impersonating someone, or using someone else's account, phone number or photos.
• Collecting other users' information, spamming them, or contacting them for purposes unrelated to an event.
• Trying to get around payments, break our security or access data you're not allowed to see.

We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

You own the photos, text and other content you add to NEARBY. You give us permission to store and display it on NEARBY so the service can work — for example, showing your event or profile to other users. You must have the right to share anything you upload.

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Refunds already due will still be paid.

NEARBY is provided “as is”. We aren't responsible for what happens at events, or for the actions of hosts or participants. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid through NEARBY for the event concerned in the last 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of India.

We may update these terms. We'll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use NEARBY after changes means you accept them.
